I am currently supporting a newly PE backed SME to find their very first Head of Reward and Payroll, predominately based from home with occasional multi-site UK wide travel. Reporting into the HR Director, you will be responsible for setting the reward strategy across their diverse businesses including distribution, branch/store network, business support functions and sales/online businesses. You will also have management responsibility of an internal team, an external payroll provider and benefits suppliers.
The focus of the role will be to create a reward function that supports the people and operational plans through excellent remuneration and benefits packages. You will define and own the governance around all decisions on pay, grading and discretionary benefits and act as key advisor to the business. You will also support the business through change programs ensuring a seamless migration of a new HRIS and Payroll provider and ensure ongoing communication to all levels regarding these changes.
You will also be responsible for benchmarking pay and benefits, the annual reward cycle, owning the relationships with benefits suppliers and creating a business focussed KPI reporting plan to support the business with insights into attrition, turnover, diversity and sickness etc.
To be successful in this role you will have previous experience as a Snr Reward and Benefits Manager or Head of Reward ideally in a PE backed SME where you have implemented new reward strategies and managed and developed a team. You will have experience managing third party suppliers across benefits, pensions and benchmarking tools. You will have a detailed knowledge of the UK reward landscape, be up to date with UK benefits and tax implications and have a knowledge of payroll.
This role requires strong communication and stakeholder management and a high desire for accuracy and excellence in customer service.
